The year 2022 will remain the year of recovery for the retail sector, with just over €4.5 billion invested. However, this statement needs to be qualified, as not all retailing has recovered in the same way. The main lesson to be learned from this recovery is a return to fundamentals and the immutable rule of location. Having emerged from the yellow vest crisis and the Covid 19 pandemic, investors have come to appreciate the resilience of the food sector and retail parks. On the other hand, shopping malls and, to a lesser extent, pied-à-terre properties, especially regional ones, have had more difficulty reinventing themselves and, consequently, maintaining liquidity in the eyes of buyers.
