Real estate has always been a complex issue for retail groups. Chez Casino, it has fairly quickly been considered a strategic axis over the last two decades. First of all, at the heart of financial issues. Real estate has been a powerful lever for reducing the Casino Group's debt and Nicolas Joly, one of its artisans. Over the past five years, he has managed the sale of some €3 billion in assets. Classic sale & leaseback sales from Géant Casino hypermarkets, in particular at M&G Real Estate (which will have five in one year), from supermarkets like the wallet sold to Tristan Capital Partners last spring. But also vast portfolios sold to private equity players, Fortress with 26 assets for €501 million and Apollo (31 assets for €465 million).
