For some years now, technology has been everywhere, and no sector has escaped it, not even real estate. This was all the more true during the health crisis, when market players had to innovate. Even so, PropTechs did not see life as rosy in 2023. Indeed, higher interest rates have greatly slowed down their fundraising, particularly in the US, with the $2.8 bn of capital raised in the1st half of 2023 representing a drastic drop compared to the $8.5 bn and $8.4 bn raised over the same period in 2021 and 2022, according to investment bank Houlihan Lokey. Nevertheless, the "Mid-Year 2023 Global PropTech Confidence Index" presented by MetaProp in September, which highlights the latest trends and outlook for the PropTech community worldwide, indicates that 43% of investors expect to make more investments in PropTech, up significantly from 26% at the end of 2022.
